We live in exciting and momentous days. The best time of human existence is now. There has never been a time of so much opportunity and prosperity. More resources are available for more people than ever.
However, there is an elusive problem: a global lack of respect for human life.
All the major problems of humanity narrow down to one thing—a very misguided binary definition of “love.”
Love is often defined by personal preference We prefer our partner, family, friends, career, business, country, certain foods, movies, and songs, and we call it "love."
Vladimir Putin is a self-proclaimed Christian; he obviously "loves" himself and his country while murdering thousands of innocent, unarmed Ukrainian Christians. Putin demonstrated his Christian “love” on April 16, 2025 by bombing a Ukrainian church on Easter Sunday.
Putin demonstrates Soviet “love.” The Soviet government murdered 62,000,000 people. The communist government of China murdered 35,000,000 people. The government of Nazi Germany murdered 21,000,000 people. The government of nationalist China murdered 10,000,000 people.
The best predictor of murderers is their access to dictatorial political power. Governments, especially absolutist regimes, have murdered nearly 170,000,000 people under the pretense of politics or “undefined love.”
The biblical definition of love is characterized by giving and caring, showing that we are all members of one human family. Children are the ultimate source of unconditional love. Children offer everything to love their fathers and mothers. The precious and beautiful love of each child is worth nurturing and protecting. Imagine if all world leaders protected the sanctity and purity of love as the inherent reality of all humans.
The dream of universal love is elusive only to those who cannot care for others more than themselves. Humanity needs a new definition of love that serves and cares for everyone.
